Melted Gouda Roast Beef Sandwich

A tasty lunch sandwich made of gouda, roast beef, and caramelized onions

  • 2 oz roast beef (thin sliced)

  • 4 slices gouda cheese

  • 2 slices bread

  • 1/4 cup chopped onions

  • 1/4 cup sliced mushrooms

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise


  1. Heat saute pan on medium high and melt 1 tbsp of butter.  Add 1/4 cup chopped onions and 1/4 cup chopped mushrooms to pan until it browns.  Sprinkle with salt and pepper, stir it around.  Then set aside on a plate

  2. Heat skillet on medium high and melt 1 tbsp of butter

  3. Spread 1 tbsp of mayonnaise on 1 slice of bread (side that will face the pan) and add to pan with melted butter

  4. Add 2 slices of gouda, the sauteed mushrooms and onions, 2 oz roast beef and another 2 slices of gouda

  5. Spread 1 tbsp of mayonnaise on the other slice of bread (the side that will face the pan).  Place on top of the rest of the sandwich and press down with spatula

  6. Grill until the cheese is melted and the bottom is browned to your liking.  Flip sandwich over and do the same for the other side
